Dr. Ashish George is Principal Consultant and Unit Head, Liver Transplant, at Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, where his practice centres on adult and paediatric liver transplantation and hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. He trained in general surgery at the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, completed his M.Ch in Surgical Gastroenterology at AIIMS, New Delhi, and went on to a postdoctoral fellowship in liver transplantation at The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, along with a fellowship in minimal access surgery. Before joining Fortis, he held HPB surgery and liver transplant roles at Aakash Healthcare Superspecialty Hospital, BLK-Max Superspecialty Hospital and Dr. Rela Institute and Medical Centre in Chennai, and trained as a fellow and senior resident at Global Hospital, Chennai, and AIIMS, New Delhi. His clinical interests include split and auxiliary partial orthotopic liver transplantation, liver resection in cirrhotic patients, ex-situ and ante-situm liver resections, and the management of acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure and hepatocellular cancer. He is a member of the Liver Transplant Society of India and the Association of Surgeons of India.
