Indian Medical Visa for Bahrain Citizens
A Bahraini patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the Embassy of India in Manama, which takes regular applications through the Indian Consular Application Centre. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?
The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the Embassy for a regular visa.
How does the e-Medical visa work?
- The patient applies on indianvisaonline.gov.in, adding the passport bio page and the hospital's letter.
- The decision takes about three working days and comes by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient presents at immigration in India.
What are the steps for a regular medical visa?
- The patient books an appointment at the Indian Consular Application Centre in Manama.
- The patient submits the application there, with the documents.
Which documents does the Embassy of India in Manama ask for?
- A copy of the passport
- A copy of the CPR and of the CPR ID card data
- A medical report from a hospital in Bahrain confirming that the patient is travelling to India for treatment
- The Indian hospital's invitation letter, confirming the appointment and giving the attendants' details
- For expatriates, a copy of the residence permit
Which visa suits which patient?
Choose the e-Medical visa to keep the whole application online; it lasts 60 days from the patient's first arrival, with more than one entry allowed. The regular visa goes through the Consular Application Centre, and the Embassy sets its duration and number of entries case by case. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
