Indian Medical Visa for Bangladesh Citizens

A Bangladeshi patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the High Commission of India in Dhaka. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the High Commission for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

  1. Online, at indianvisaonline.gov.in, the patient submits the scanned passport bio page together with the hospital's letter, which gives the suggested admission date.
  2. The e-Visa comes by email, and the patient presents it on arrival at immigration.

What are the steps for a regular medical visa?

  1. The patient completes the online form on indianvisaonline.gov.in and prints it.
  2. The patient submits the printed form and the documents through the Indian Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh.

Which documents does the High Commission of India in Dhaka ask for?

  • A passport valid for six months, with two blank pages, and any old passports
  • One passport-size colour photograph
  • A national ID card or birth certificate, and proof of residence such as a utility bill
  • Proof of financial soundness, which can be a six-month bank statement or an international card statement
  • Proof of profession
  • Medical documents and reports from a local doctor
  • The Indian hospital's letter of appointment and a copy of the invitation letter
  • For an organ transplant, clearance from the Law Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Which visa suits which patient?

Choose the e-Medical visa to complete everything online without going to the High Commission. Its validity is 60 days counted from the first day in India, with several entries allowed inside that period. A regular medical visa suits a patient who prefers to hand over the paper documents in person. For an organ transplant, the Law Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs clearances go with that application. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
