Indian Medical Visa for Cape Verde Citizens

A Cape Verdean patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the Indian mission in Cape Verde. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the Indian mission for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

  1. The patient applies on indianvisaonline.gov.in.
  2. The patient uploads the passport bio page and hospital letter online.
  3. The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.

How does the regular medical visa work?

The patient fills in the application on indianvisaonline.gov.in, then prints and signs it. The signed form and the documents are submitted at the Indian mission in Cape Verde.

Which documents does the Indian mission in Cape Verde ask for?

  • The online application form, printed and signed, with a recent photograph
  • The passport, valid for at least six months, with a copy
  • A referral letter and medical reports from the patient's doctor or hospital in Cape Verde
  • The Indian hospital's invitation letter
  • Proof of funds for the treatment and stay, such as a bank statement or a sponsor's letter
  • For an attendant, proof of relationship with the patient

Which visa suits which patient?

The e-Medical visa is valid for 60 days from first arrival in India and needs no visit to the mission. The regular medical visa is applied for on paper and needs a visit to the Indian mission in Cape Verde. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
