Indian Medical Visa for Gambian Citizens
A Gambian patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the Embassy of India in Dakar, Senegal, which serves The Gambia. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?
The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or deposited into the Embassy's bank account for a regular visa.
How does the e-Medical visa work?
- The patient uploads the passport bio page and hospital letter online.
- The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.
Which documents does the Embassy of India in Dakar ask for?
- A copy of the current passport and the completed application form
- A copy of the residence permit or national identity card
- Recent bank statements
- A flight reservation
- The bank receipt for the visa payment
- A copy of the yellow fever vaccination card or certificate
- A recent recommendation letter from the treating doctor or hospital stating that the condition needs urgent medical attention abroad
- The Indian hospital's invitation or appointment letter
Which visa suits which patient?
The e-Medical visa is valid for 60 days from first arrival in India, allows more than one entry and needs no travel to Dakar. For a regular visa the patient completes an online form, receives an appointment and attends the Embassy in Dakar. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
