Indian Medical Visa for Libya Citizens

A Libyan patient applies for a regular medical visa on paper through the Embassy of India in Tripoli. The Government of India's e-Visa list does not include Libya, so Libyan citizens have no access to the e-Medical visa. The visa needs the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is paid with the application.

What are the steps for a regular medical visa?

  1. The patient completes the online form on indianvisaonline.gov.in, selects Libya-Tripoli as the Indian mission, then prints and signs it.
  2. The patient submits the signed printout, the documents and the visa payment to the mission.
  3. A Libyan application is normally processed within five working days.

Which documents does the Embassy of India in Tripoli ask for?

  • The completed online application form, with the photograph uploaded vertically
  • Two recent colour photographs, each 5.08 cm by 5.08 cm
  • A passport with at least six months' validity from the date of travel, with a copy
  • A referral letter from a doctor or hospital in Libya and a letter from a doctor or hospital in India
  • Copies of all investigations and details of ongoing treatment
  • The visa payment
  • A flight reservation
  • A bank statement proving enough money for the treatment and stay in India
  • A copy of valid travel insurance

What if treatment runs longer than the visa?

The Indian mission decides the validity of a regular visa. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
