Indian Medical Visa for Mali Citizens

A Malian patient can use the e-Medical visa online or a regular medical visa on paper from the Embassy of India in Bamako. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid by bank deposit slip for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

  1. On indianvisaonline.gov.in, the patient submits the application with the passport bio page and the hospital's letter.
  2. The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.

How does the regular visa application work?

The patient prints the signed online application form and submits it at the Embassy in Bamako on working days, from nine o'clock to noon.

Which documents does the Bamako mission ask for?

  • The signed print-out of the online application form
  • A passport with at least six months' validity, a national identity card or residence certificate, and two recent passport photographs
  • Preliminary medical advice from a local doctor or hospital
  • A reference letter from the hospital in India on its letterhead, stating the nature of the illness and the likely duration of treatment
  • The invitation letter generated through the Medical and Ayush Visa Portal, because the Embassy does not accept invitation letters addressed to it directly
  • A bank statement for the last three months in the applicant's name, or an affidavit with the sponsor's bank statement

How long is each visa valid?

The e-Medical visa is valid for 60 days from first arrival in India. The regular visa is valid for the length of the treatment, up to one year, with up to three entries, and its validity starts on the day of issue. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
