What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the Embassy for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

1. Through indianvisaonline.gov.in the patient applies and uploads the hospital's letter and the passport bio page.
2. The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.

Which documents does the Embassy of India in Bucharest ask for?

• Passport valid for at least 180 days, with at least two blank pages
• The visa application form
• A bank statement showing financial standing and enough funds to cover medical expenses in India
• A flight reservation and accommodation arrangements in India
• The medical case history with the local doctor's recommendations
• The Indian hospital's invitation letter in the prescribed format, which the hospital sends to the Embassy, bearing a unique reference number
• A copy of the hospital's NABH accreditation certificate

Which visa suits which patient?

The e-Medical visa is valid for 60 days from first arrival in India. The patient does not have to visit the Embassy to obtain it. For a regular visa, validity begins on the day of issue, and the Embassy sets how long it lasts and how many entries it allows. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
