Is a Mozambican eligible for the e-Medical visa?
Mozambican passport holders qualify for India's e-Visa, which opens the e-Medical visa to patients and the e-Medical Attendant visa to their companions. Once a Mozambican patient lands in India, the e-Medical visa runs for two months (60 days), with more than one entry allowed.
What does the e-Medical application need?
- The scanned bio page of the passport
- The Indian hospital's letter, on letterhead, giving the planned or tentative admission date
What are the steps for the e-Medical visa?
- Jivo obtains the Visa Invitation Letter from the chosen hospital; every Jivo partner hospital is FRRO-registered.
- The patient completes the e-Medical application online at indianvisaonline.gov.in.
- The e-Visa arrives by email.
- A Mozambican patient may bring two attendants, each with an application of their own.
What does the visa cost?
The visa fee is set by the Government of India and paid online with the application (or at the Indian mission for a paper visa); Jivo confirms the current fee with you before you apply.
What does the High Commission in Maputo require for a regular medical visa?
The patient completes the online form at indianvisaonline.gov.in, prints it and submits it at the High Commission of India in Maputo with the passport and these documents:
- A copy of the passport
- The BIE (Mozambican identity card) or another local identity document
- The acceptance and invitation letter from the hospital
- Proof of the place of stay in India
- Proof of financial standing
- The medical papers
What happens if treatment runs longer than the visa?
If treatment takes longer than the visa allows, the hospital and the Jivo team help the patient apply for an extension on the e-FRRO portal.
