Indian Medical Visa for Niger Citizens

A Nigerien patient may apply for the e-Medical visa online, or for a regular medical visa on paper through the Indian mission. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the mission for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

  1. The patient files the application on indianvisaonline.gov.in and attaches the passport bio page and the hospital's letter.
  2. The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.

Which documents does the Indian mission ask for?

  • The online application form, printed and signed, with a photograph
  • A passport valid for six months, with a copy
  • A referral letter and medical reports from the patient's home doctor or hospital in Niger
  • The invitation letter from the Indian hospital
  • Proof of funds, such as a bank statement or a sponsor's letter
  • For an attendant, proof of relationship with the patient

How long is the e-Medical visa valid?

The e-Medical visa stays valid for 60 days after the patient lands in India. The mission decides the validity of a regular visa. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
