Current restriction, as of 19 October 2026

Congolese patients apply for the regular medical visa at the Embassy, and Jivo arranges the Visa Invitation Letter with the partner hospital.
How do Ebola-related restrictions affect an application?
Ebola-related visa restrictions currently apply to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Jivo checks the current position with the Embassy before any application is filed.
What are the steps for a regular medical visa?
- Jivo obtains the Visa Invitation Letter from the chosen hospital; every Jivo partner hospital is FRRO-registered.
- The patient completes the online application form at indianvisaonline.gov.in and prints it.
- The patient takes the printed form, the passport, the photographs, the vaccination certificates and the other documents to the Embassy of India in Kinshasa, and pays the fee in cash at the counter.
What does the visa cost?
The visa fee is set by the Government of India and paid online with the application (or at the Indian mission for a paper visa); Jivo confirms the current fee with you before you apply.
How long is the medical visa valid?
A medical visa for Congolese applicants is valid for up to six months or for up to one year, counted from the date of issue of the visa. The Embassy decides the duration and the number of entries in each case.
Which documents does the Embassy require?
- The original passport and copies of the relevant pages, with six months of validity on the date of the journey
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- A printed copy of the completed online visa application form
- A copy of the national identity card or residence permit
- Copies of the yellow fever and polio vaccination certificates, with the yellow fever dose at least 10 days and the polio dose at least 28 days before travel
- Medical documents that establish the need for treatment in India, translated into English, with the reference of the hospital or doctor
- Proof of sufficient funds: a bank statement, a salary certificate or a sponsorship letter
- A letter of admission from the recognised hospital or doctor in India
What happens if treatment runs longer than the visa?
If treatment takes longer than the visa allows, the hospital and the Jivo team help the patient apply for an extension on the e-FRRO portal.
