Ebola-related visa restrictions currently apply to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Jivo checks the current position with the Embassy of India in Kinshasa before any application is filed. Congolese patients apply for the regular medical visa at the Embassy, and Jivo arranges the Visa Invitation Letter with the partner hospital.
Who books the flight?
The patient books the flight with the airline or a local agent once the visa is granted.
What does Jivo arrange before departure?
Before travel, Jivo guides the patient on the fit-to-fly certificate and on informing the airline, so that the airline's approval comes in time. Jivo also shares a pre-travel checklist, including the expected weather in Delhi for the travel dates, and offers budget accommodation options near the hospital, with their costs.
What happens on arrival?
Jivo organises the airport pickup in New Delhi.
How long does a Congolese patient stay in India?
A patient having a CABG, spinal decompression and fixation or craniotomy for brain tumour should allow three to four weeks for each. Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction needs two to three weeks and bilateral knee replacement four to five. Kidney transplant takes eight to ten weeks, chemotherapy seven to nine, and BMT from a matched sibling or family donor three to four months. These ranges are a guide, and the specialist confirms each patient's expected stay.
Who is with the patient in India?
In India, a Jivo case manager and a counterpart from the hospital team coordinate the day-to-day treatment steps and the patient's well-being, so someone is always with the patient.
