What does Jivo arrange before the journey?
Jivo guides the patient on the fit-to-fly certificate and on informing the airline, so the airline's approval comes in time. It also shares a pre-travel checklist and helps the patient find accommodation near the hospital.
What happens in India?
Jivo meets the patient at the airport in New Delhi. At the hospital, a Jivo case manager and a hospital coordinator guide the patient every day and coordinate tests, admission, treatment and recovery. Jivo takes the patient back to the airport when treatment ends. After the patient returns to Equatorial Guinea, Jivo stays in touch with the Indian specialists about the patient's recovery.
How long does an Equatorial Guinean patient stay in India?
For chemotherapy the stay is seven to nine weeks, and for radiation therapy six to eight. Brain tumour surgery and spinal decompression and fixation each need two to three weeks. A kidney transplant takes eight to ten weeks. Each patient's written opinion gives their expected stay.
Which currency rules apply on the journey?
On arrival in India, foreign currency notes above five thousand US dollars, or total foreign exchange above ten thousand US dollars, must be declared to Indian Customs.
