Indian Medical Visa for Iran Citizens

The visa an Iranian patient needs is the regular medical visa, applied for with the Embassy of India in Tehran. Iranian passport holders cannot get the e-Medical visa, as Iran is absent from the e-Visa list. Jivo obtains the hospital's invitation letters for the application.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is paid with the application at the Indian Consular Application Centre.

What are the steps for a regular medical visa?

  1. The patient uploads the online form on indianvisaonline.gov.in and prints the hard copy, which every type of passport requires.
  2. The patient submits the hard copy, the fee and the documents at the Indian Consular Application Centre in Tehran or Mashhad.

Which documents does the Embassy of India in Tehran ask for?

  • The hard copy of the application form uploaded on the Indian visa website
  • Two recent passport photographs
  • The new and old passports, with photocopies of every page that carries entries and visas
  • A copy of the Shenasnameh
  • A referral letter or preliminary medical advice from an Iranian hospital recommending specialised treatment abroad
  • A letter from the Indian hospital showing an appointment or willingness to treat, with the approximate treatment cost
  • A financial statement showing sufficient funds

What if treatment runs longer than the visa?

If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
