Medical Attendant Visa and Invitation Letter for Kenya

Kenyan attendants are eligible for the e-Medical Attendant visa. Each files a separate online application and uploads only the passport bio page. The regular route at Nairobi covers patient and attendants together.

Can Kenyan attendants use the e-visa?

Yes. Kenyan attendants are eligible for the e-Medical Attendant visa, and one e-Medical visa can carry up to two of them. Every attendant files a separate application on the e-visa portal and uploads only the passport bio page.

What does the attendant pay?

The visa fee is set by the Government of India and paid online with the application (or at the Indian mission for a paper visa); Jivo confirms the current fee with you before you apply.

What does the mission require of a regular attendant application?

The Nairobi checklist covers the medical visa and the medical attendant visa together. A signed form for each is presented in person, with two photographs, the hospital invitation letter emailed to [email protected], medical documents with a local referral, proof of funds, proof of relationship with the patient and the Medical Visa Undertaking. The invitation letter must name the patient and the attendants and give their passport numbers, so it is prepared for both applications at once. Minor children need the consent of both parents.

How does the Visa Invitation Letter work for attendants?

The invitation is issued by a partner hospital, all of which are FRRO-registered. Whichever visa route the family chooses, Jivo arranges the Visa Invitation Letter with that hospital for the patient.

What if the portal asks for a document again?

Each Kenyan attendant has their own application, so each needs a working email address: the portal sends any re-upload request, and then the decision, to the address given on that application.

When do attendants apply?

An attendant files within the 120-day to 4-day window the patient uses and shows the Electronic Travel Authorization at the immigration checkpoint in India. The patient's own steps are in the Kenyan medical visa guide; the journey is in the travel and stay guide. The process for patients shows where the attendant fits in the sequence.
