Indian Medical Visa for Kuwait Citizens

A Kuwaiti patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the Embassy of India in Kuwait. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the Embassy for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

  1. The patient applies online at indianvisaonline.gov.in, attaching a scan of the passport's photo page and the hospital's letter.
  2. The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.

What are the steps for a regular medical visa?

  1. The patient completes the online form on indianvisaonline.gov.in and prints it.
  2. The patient submits the printed form and the documents at a BLS Indian Consular Application Centre, which handles applications for the Embassy of India in Kuwait.

Which documents does the Embassy of India in Kuwait ask for?

  • The visa application form, with a referral letter or preliminary medical advice from a hospital in Kuwait recommending specialised treatment abroad
  • A letter from the hospital in India showing an appointment, or its willingness to treat the patient

Which visa suits which patient?

The e-Medical visa involves no visit to an application centre and lasts 60 days counted from the first arrival in India, and the patient may enter more than once within it. A regular medical visa lasts up to one year, or the period of treatment if that is shorter, with a maximum of three entries in the year. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
