Indian Medical Visa for Liberian Citizens

A Liberian patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the Embassy of India in Monrovia. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.

What does the visa cost?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the Embassy for a regular visa.

How does the e-Medical visa work?

  1. The patient uploads the passport bio page and hospital letter online.
  2. The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.

Which documents does the Embassy of India in Monrovia ask for?

  • The online application form, printed and signed, with a recent photograph
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • The passport, valid for at least six months
  • A flight reservation
  • A copy of the yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • A letter of introduction from the employer
  • A reference letter from a recognised doctor or hospital in Liberia that referred the patient for treatment in India
  • A copy of the Indian hospital's confirmation letter, also emailed to [email protected]
  • The applicant's bank statement

Which visa suits which patient?

The e-Medical visa is valid for 60 days from first arrival in India, allows more than one entry and needs no visit to the Embassy. For a regular visa the applicant submits the form in person at the Embassy and meets the biometric requirement. A regular visa covers the treatment period, to a maximum of one year. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
