When does an attendant need a visa?

For longer treatment, each attendant needs a medical attendant visa from the High Commission of India in Malé. Every attendant fills in the online form at indianvisaonline.gov.in, then prints the form and brings it, with the supporting papers, to the High Commission. The attendants are named in the hospital's letter.

What does the attendant pay?

The Government of India sets the fee. It is paid at the High Commission of India in Malé with the application.

How do the invitation letters work for attendants?

For a regular visa, the hospital issues two invitation letters: one on its letterhead, addressed to the High Commission of India in Malé, and one generated on the FRRO system. Both list each attendant with the patient, by name, passport number and relationship. Jivo needs each attendant's passport details to request them.
