Which treatments do Nigerians travel to India for?
Nigerians who seek care abroad most often need cancer care, cardiology and heart surgery, kidney care and transplantation, orthopaedics, and brain and spine surgery. For transplant and neurosurgery patients treated abroad, India is the leading destination.
Cancer care comes first on that list. The treatments are set out under chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation therapy. The Jivo Masterclass on cancer: myths, facts and advances was conducted for international doctors by Dr. Mohit Agarwal on 7 September 2025, and the article series built from it is on record. A second session, on radiation oncology, was conducted by Dr. Garima Singh on 22 February 2026.
Kidney disease and kidney transplantation are also on it. The kidney session on record was conducted on 23 November 2025: Dr. Yajvender Pratap Singh Rana's Jivo Masterclass on urology, uro-oncology and kidney transplant, and the operation is described under kidney transplant.

Cardiology comes with its own session. At Artemis Hospitals, Gurugram, Dr. Biswarup Purkayastha conducted the Jivo Masterclass on heart failure and coronary artery disease in the African population for international doctors on 28 June 2026. What is different about the visa for Nigerians?
Nigeria is absent from the Government of India e-visa eligibility list, so the e-Medical route is closed to Nigerian passport holders. A Nigerian patient and each attendant apply for a regular visa at the High Commission of India in Abuja or, from the south-west, south-east and south-south states, at the Consulate General of India in Lagos. The full sequence is in the Nigerian medical visa guide, the attendant rules are in the attendant visa and invitation letter guide, and the routes from Lagos and Abuja are in the travel and stay guide.
The visa decides the order of work for a Nigerian family. The paper application needs a hospital invitation that is registered with the FRRO, a referral letter from a government hospital in Nigeria and a sponsor's documents, so the hospital estimate and the invitation letter come first, and flights are booked last.
How does a Nigerian patient start?
A Nigerian patient starts by sending reports on WhatsApp. A named Indian specialist reads them and gives an opinion, and the hospital then prices the case in US dollars. Once the patient decides to travel, Jivo arranges the Visa Invitation Letter with the partner hospital. The process for patients sets out each step in order.
