Is there an attendant visa for Nigerians?

Yes. A Nigerian attendant applies for a regular medical attendant visa at the mission, on the same track as the patient. The mission asks for proof of the relationship between the patient and the attendant.

What does the attendant pay and bring?

The visa fee is set by the Government of India and paid online with the application (or at the Indian mission for a paper visa); Jivo confirms the current fee with you before you apply.

The checklist the mission publishes names the documents that attach to the application: the hospital's FRRO-registered invitation with its file reference number, the signed sponsorship letter with the sponsor's National ID card, and the sponsor's bank statements for the latest three months. Proof of relationship, such as a document that shows how the attendant is related to the patient, is added for the attendant. The attendant is an applicant in their own right, so fingerprints and iris photographs are captured in person at the mission.

What is the Visa Invitation Letter, and who arranges it?

The invitation letter that the mission reads comes from the partner hospital. Every partner hospital is FRRO-registered, and the letter carries a file reference number. For each patient, Jivo arranges the Visa Invitation Letter with that hospital.

Where is the attendant's application made?

Applications go to the High Commission of India in Abuja, or to the Consulate General of India in Lagos for residents of the south-west, south-east and south-south states the Consulate names. The step sequence, timings at the counter and the six-week caution for some visa types are set out in the Nigerian medical visa guide; the attendant follows the same sequence. Validity runs from the date of issue and is whatever the High Commission grants, and flights are booked only once the passport is back with the visa.

Questions about who should travel as the attendant can go to the same WhatsApp conversation as the reports. The process for patients shows where the attendant fits in each step, and the travel and stay guide covers the journey.
