Attendant Visa and Invitation Letter for South Africa

A South African patient can bring up to two attendants. On the portal each applies for an e-Medical Attendant visa. The partner hospital, which is FRRO-registered like every Jivo partner hospital, issues the Visa Invitation Letter, and Jivo arranges it with the hospital for every patient.

How many attendants can accompany the patient?

The portal supports up to two e-Medical Attendant visas for one e-Medical visa. The High Commission of India in Pretoria gives the same limit for medical attendants, with their visa validity running together with the patient's medical visa.

What does an attendant send?

Each attendant files an application of their own on the portal with the scanned bio page of the passport.

What does the attendant pay?

The visa fee is set by the Government of India and paid online with the application (or at the Indian mission for a paper visa); Jivo confirms the current fee with you before you apply.

Which letter supports the file?

The hospital letter on letterhead belongs to the patient's application. The partner hospital, which is FRRO-registered like every Jivo partner hospital, issues the Visa Invitation Letter, and Jivo arranges it with the hospital for every patient.

How long does an attendant's visa last?

Counted from first arrival in India, an e-Medical Attendant visa runs for 60 days, with re-entry allowed in that window.

Where does an attendant fly from?

There are two common departure points. Johannesburg serves Pretoria, and Cape Town is the other. Neither city has a non-stop flight to Delhi; the routes from both are in the travel and stay guide. An attendant books their own flight with the airline or a local agent once the visa is granted, and Jivo organises the airport pickup in Delhi. For the South African patient's application, see the medical visa guide.

The attendant travels on the same hospital arrangements as the patient: the Visa Invitation Letter and the e-Medical Attendant visa that the portal issues by email.
