Indian Medical Visa for United Arab Emirates Citizens
An Emirati patient can apply online for the e-Medical visa, or apply for a regular medical visa at the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of India in Dubai. Both need the hospital's invitation letters, which Jivo obtains.
Or message us on WhatsApp: +91 98182 98669
What does the visa cost?
The Government of India sets the fee. It is shown and paid online during an e-Medical application, or paid at the Indian mission for a regular visa.
How does the e-Medical visa work?
- The patient submits the e-Medical form on indianvisaonline.gov.in together with two uploads: the hospital's letter and the page of the passport that carries the photograph.
- The decision takes about three working days and arrives by email as an Electronic Travel Authorization, which the patient shows at immigration in India.
What are the steps for a regular medical visa?
- The patient completes the online form on indianvisaonline.gov.in and prints it.
- The patient takes the printed form and the documents to the Indian visa application centre serving the Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai.
Which documents do the Indian missions in the UAE ask for?
- The online application form, signed by the applicant
- Two recent photographs of 51 x 51 mm with a white background
- The original passport with a photocopy, and the valid UAE residence visa page for residents
- A letter from a recognised Indian hospital, on letterhead with stamp and signature, giving the date of consultation or admission, the treatment, its duration, and the passport number, nationality and names of patient and attendant
- Medical documents with a recommendation letter from a recognised doctor in the UAE
- For an attendant, a document proving the relationship with the patient
Which visa suits which patient?
A patient who prefers to avoid the mission can choose the e-Medical visa, which covers 60 days from the first arrival in India with multiple entries inside that window. The regular medical visa starts with a validity of six months or the period of treatment, and its documents are handed in at the mission. If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
