How does a patient in Sierra Leone begin?

A patient in Sierra Leone starts by sending the reports to Jivo on WhatsApp. Jivo obtains the opinion of a named Indian specialist and the estimate of the partner hospital for the case. The visa application follows. In March 2026 Health Minister Austin Demby said limited dialysis services forced patients to travel long distances or seek treatment abroad.

Two visa routes are open to Sierra Leonean citizens. The Government of India e-visa portal puts Sierra Leone on its list of e-Visa countries, so the e-Medical visa can be applied for online. The High Commission of India in Freetown describes the regular route, an online form with a physical submission, and Jivo confirms with the High Commission which route applies before any application.
