Current restriction, as of 20 October 2026
Ebola-related visa restrictions currently apply to South Sudan. Jivo checks the current position with the Embassy of India in Juba before any application is filed. South Sudanese patients apply for the regular medical visa at the Embassy, and Jivo arranges the hospital's invitation letters with the partner hospital.
What does the visa cost?
The Government of India sets the fee. The Embassy accepts payment in US dollars cash only.
How does the application work?
- The patient completes the application at indianvisaonline.gov.in, prints the form and signs it.
- The patient, or a nominated applicant, takes the signed form and the documents to the Embassy on a working day between 09.00 and 11.30.
- The Embassy normally issues the visa to South Sudanese nationals within three working days, and passports and visas are handed back from 16.00 to 17.00.
Which documents does the Juba mission ask for?
- The signed hard copy of the online application form, with two colour photographs on a white background
- A certificate of good conduct or police clearance from the South Sudan authorities
- Preliminary medical advice from a South Sudanese doctor or hospital
- A reference or invitation letter from a reputed specialised hospital in India that identifies the patient and the attendant, with a copy or reference of the hospital's online Ayush visa application
- The applicant's bank statement, or an affidavit with the bank statement of a sponsor, parent or guardian
- A yellow fever certificate, with the vaccination at least 15 days before travel
- A passport with two blank pages and at least six months' validity beyond the scheduled departure from India
How long is the visa valid?
Validity is counted from the date of issue, and the Embassy decides the duration.
What if treatment runs longer than the visa?
If treatment runs longer than the visa, the hospital and Jivo help the patient extend it on the e-FRRO portal.
