Current restriction, as of 18 October 2026
Ebola-related visa restrictions currently apply to Uganda. Jivo checks the current position with the Indian mission before any application is filed. Two routes exist: the e-Medical visa, applied for online with no visit to the mission, and the regular medical visa at the High Commission of India in Kampala; Jivo arranges the Visa Invitation Letter for either.
Is there a direct flight from Entebbe to Delhi?
None of the flights from Entebbe (EBB), which serves Kampala, is direct. The one-stop options run through Addis Ababa, Doha, Dubai or Sharjah.
Do the Ebola-related restrictions affect travel plans?
Ebola-related visa restrictions currently apply to Uganda, as at 18 October 2026. Jivo checks the current position before any application is filed, and the alternative routes are set out in the Ugandan medical visa guide. Flights are booked only after that, once the visa is granted.
Who books the flight?
The patient books the flight with the airline or a local agent once the visa is granted.
What does Jivo organise before the patient leaves?
Jivo organises the hospital appointment in advance and guides medical passengers on the airline's fit-to-fly requirements, so that approval comes in time. On the e-Medical route, biometrics are captured at Indian immigration on arrival.
What happens at Delhi airport?
Jivo organises the airport pickup and offers budget accommodation options near the hospital, with their costs.
How long does a Ugandan patient stay in India?
A CABG patient should plan three to four weeks. Craniotomy for brain tumour, spinal decompression and fixation and microdiscectomy all fall in the range of three to four weeks, and a kidney transplant eight to ten. These ranges are guidelines, rarely exact, and the specialist confirms each patient's expected stay.
Who is with the patient in India?
In India, a Jivo case manager and a counterpart from the hospital team coordinate the day-to-day treatment steps and the patient's well-being, so someone is always with the patient.
What are the cash rules for a Ugandan traveller?
Under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, Cap 118, a person carrying currency or negotiable bearer instruments out of Uganda worth 1,500 currency points or more declares it to a Customs officer at exit or entry; failure to declare is an offence.
Before departure, the Jivo team shares a pre-travel checklist with each patient, including the expected weather in Delhi for the travel dates.
The process for patients lists the steps to complete before departure.
