Is there a direct flight from Accra to Delhi?
No airline flies direct from Accra (ACC). The usual route is one stop via Addis Ababa with Ethiopian, or via Doha or Dubai with Qatar Airways or Emirates.
Who books the flight?
The patient books the flight with the airline or a local agent once the visa is granted.
What happens between the visa and the flight?
Jivo organises the hospital appointment in advance and guides medical passengers on the airline's fit-to-fly requirements, so that approval comes in time.
What does a Ghanaian patient find on arrival?
Jivo organises the airport pickup and offers budget accommodation options near the hospital, with their costs.
How long does a patient stay in India?
Liver transplant is the longest of the Ghanaian procedures here, at two to three months. Kidney transplant takes eight to ten weeks, and spinal decompression and fixation three to four weeks. These ranges are guidelines, rarely exact, and the specialist confirms each patient's expected stay.
Who looks after the patient during treatment?
In India, a Jivo case manager and a counterpart from the hospital team coordinate the day-to-day treatment steps and the patient's well-being, so someone is always with the patient.
What should a Ghanaian traveller declare?
Under a Bank of Ghana notice effective 1 September 2025, a traveller may carry up to ten thousand US dollars, or the equivalent, without declaring it. Above that amount the full sum goes on the Foreign Currency Declaration Form FX-5, available from GRA Customs, with the source and the purpose. Foreign currency may not be sent by mail or cargo.
Before departure, the Jivo team shares a pre-travel checklist with each patient, including the expected weather in Delhi for the travel dates.
process for patients sets out the order of steps before departure.
