Medical Attendant Visa and Invitation Letter for Malawi
Attendants from Malawi use the medical attendant visa. The e-Medical Attendant visa is applied for on the same portal as the patient's e-Medical visa, and the portal grants up to two attendant visas against each e-Medical visa.

Can Malawian attendants use the e-visa?
They can, because Malawi is on the e-Visa list. Each attendant files an application of their own with a scan of the passport bio page, and the visa runs for two months (60 days) from arrival in India.
What does the attendant pay?
The visa fee is set by the Government of India and paid online with the application (or at the Indian mission for a paper visa); Jivo confirms the current fee with you before you apply.
Can an attendant apply for a regular visa?
The High Commission of India in Lilongwe also handles the regular medical attendant visa on paper, alongside the patient's regular medical visa.
How does the Visa Invitation Letter work for attendants?
Jivo obtains the Visa Invitation Letter from the chosen hospital; every Jivo partner hospital is FRRO-registered.
What if the portal asks for a document again?
Any request to upload a document again is emailed by the portal, normally within 24 hours of submission, and the decision is emailed as well.
When do attendants apply?
Attendants follow the patient's timetable on the portal: the application goes in between 120 days and 4 days before landing, and the Electronic Travel Authorization is shown at the immigration checkpoint in India.
An attendant books their own flight with the airline or a local agent once the visa is granted, and Jivo organises the airport pickup in New Delhi.
